So there have been a couple of emails from folks on when Microsoft CRM Small Business Edition is required and when Pro is required. One of the confusing things for folks is that under SBE, it calls for SBS and a one box install. At this point I normally get an email saying: "But Small Business Server did away with those requirement two versions ago... You can have other servers now. So where do I install CRM?" So what the one box install is referring to is that everything has to be installed on the same box. Which means you can have SBS installed as your primary and a second Windows server in the domain and install CRM on the second server.
But, what you can't do is install CRM on one server and point to the SQL Server on another server. Doing that would require Pro. So as long as SQL and IIS are on the same box and you are a part of a SBS domain, then CRM will Small Business Edition will install.
Happy installing!
