Microsoft CRM - an experience

I was following CRM products for quite some time and happened to evaluate MS CRM 1.2 (during my non Microsoft days) in comparison with other products like Pivotal, SAP, Siebel, RightNow Technologies and SFDC. Our team though branded MS CRM 1.2 as a tool which could not be called as a CRM product, my curiosity was heightened. The standard questions came in my mind whether this product will be like a typical MS release...first version with limited features and then release the next with great features amidst a low market expectations environment!!!

MS CRM 3.0 did not prove me wrong!!! It was released with some great UI and simple, easy to use features even for customizers. The UI and Outlook Integration is awesome - a must have for increasing CRM adoption. MS CRM 4.0 was released in December 2007 with lots of interesting enhancements like Multi tenancy, multi lingual features. As a CRM product, I still rate it in an infancy stage. It took some baby steps initially and now the baby is growing fast enough. The product has huge potential and I am sure it will slowly be the leader especially in the mid sized enterprises space. It is now available as a hosted solution also thus announcing its entry in SaaS space!!!

On a side note, it was one of the catalysts in my deciding to go ahead for Microsoft offer despite being a Pivotal consultant for years.

I will soon list some interesting features of the product.
