Learning what you don't need is as important as learning what you do (Parts 10b-c) of "Event-Driven" Tutorial on WDR_TEST_UI_ELEMENTS)
Why do an "event-driven" self-tutorial in which you teach yourself how to rip-off and bastardize an SAP-delivered WD-ABAP component so that it winds up doing something else? Why not just learn by writing WD-ABAP from scratch? Because in the "event-driven" approach you learn not only what you do need from the original SAP component tht you're ripping-off, but also what you don't need. And from this process, you wind-up with a much deeper understanding of re-usable WD-ABAP coding techniques than if you just follow the documentation to write something from scratch.
